Extraction and Application of Pigment from Serratia marcescens SB08, an Insect Enteric Gut Bacterium, for Textile Dyeing
نویسندگان
چکیده
As an investigative study, the potent bacterium Serratia marcescens SB08 was screened from enteric gut of sulfur butterfly (Kricogonia lyside). Its pigment potential tested, and identified as prodigiosin by structural studies using High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), Gas Chromatography–Mass Spectroscopy (GC–MS), Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR). Various conditions, including pH, reaction time, temperature, color intensity, fastness properties, were studied for pure silk, China cotton yarns, conditions effective dyeing optimized. Further, pigment’s antimicrobial pursuit tested to counter common pathogens Bacillus subtilis MTCC2388, Escherichia coli MTCC443, Klebsiella pneumonia MTCC109, Proteus vulgaris MTCC1771, Pseudomonas aeruginosa MTCC1688. The largely effectual exhibited utmost zones inhibition, thus demonstrating finest effect against microbes tested. textile yarn materials soaked with this intrinsic dye also action.

Pigment extraction from fungus for textile dyeing
The present study is an attempt to isolate and optimize the fermentation conditions of three fungus, namely Trichoderma virens, Alternaria alternata and Curvularia lunata to get pigments for the purpose of textile dyeing. Highest optical density has been achieved in potato dextrose broth at 28oC in 25 days under static conditions. Wool and silk are dyed unmordanted with very good wash and rub f...

Production of L-Asparaginase by Serratia marcescens SB08: Optimization by Response Surface Methodology
This paper describes optimization method that combines the Plackett-Burman design, a factorial design and the response surface method, which were used to optimize the medium for the production of L-asparaginase by Serratia marcescens SB08. Four medium factors, from out of 11 medium factors, were screened by Plackett-Burman design experiments and subsequent optimization process to find out the o...
متن کاملInsect cellular reactions to the lipopolysaccharide component of the bacterium Serratia marcescens are mediated by eicosanoids.
Nodulation, which begins with the formation of cellular microaggregates, is the predominant cellular defense reaction to bacterial infections in insects. We suggested that these reactions to bacterial infections are mediated by eicosanoids. The lipopolysaccharide (LPS) component of some bacterial cells stimulates defense reactions in mammals and insects. Here, we report on experiments designed ...
